Computer Science – Not Rocket Science!

Just because they have added the term ‘science’ after ‘computer’ does not make this subject that difficult as you think it is. You don’t need to be scared of it, instead, you should be excited for CS, as this is the subject that you want to make your career in.

If you opted this subject just because someone told you to, and you do not have an interest in it, then I am sorry to say that you have made a big mistake.

Your life will suck if you go on for a career in CS if you are not interested in it. Therefore, I would like to advise all the students that if you are not interested in computers, then you should definitely not go for a career in CS. But if you do like computers then you are just on the right path.

If it’s the syllabus that scares you then take a chill pill, it is not that though. With some efforts and dedication, humans can do wonders, then why in the world you won’t score good marks. Hell yes! you will score good marks in this board exam, you just need to take care of few things.

Important Questions And Topics

If you desire to score in 80’s and 90’s in CS, then you have to learn the art of picking the important question and important topics out of your syllabus.

And this art only comes after lots of practice. Things like previous years question paper, new and latest sample papers etc. helps a lot.

Practicing sample papers helps you to develop instincts for spotting the useful contents in a topic, also you can determine the pattern and format in which questions are asked in the exam.

Paper pattern reminds me! in order to prepare your strategies for the board exam, you must be aware of the latest CS board exam paper pattern. It will help you to decide which chapter should be given more preference and time to score maximum marks in the exam.

Latest CS Board Exam Pattern

Take a look at the latest class 12th Blueprint or paper format issued by CBSE.

Latest CBSE 12th CS paper pattern/format 2015-16

As you can see the format of computer science question paper is different from other subjects.

The paper can be divided into 4 sections namely VSA (very short answers), SA I (short answers I), SA II (short answers II) and LA (long answers).

The first section which is very short answers (VSA) will carry 1 marks for each question, the second section which is short answers I (SA I) will have each question of 2 marks, the third section is short answers II (SA II) and will carry 3 marks for every question in it, and the last section long answers (LA) will hold the maximum 4 marks question each.

You see, CBSE have got the section for all kind of students, from weakest to the strongest. It is also said that 33% of the paper is easy to solve, 42% is normal difficulty wise and finally 25% is a bit difficult or challenging to solve.

As the ratio shows, if you have even prepared 33% then you can easily pass the paper. So you do not have to worry about being fail.

Always keep your aim high and approach positive and practical. If you will think of just getting the passing numbers then you will work according to it and you may even end up failing, but if you aim for higher percentage then you will work according to it, and therefore, there will be no margin for failing even if you do not achieve the mark you wanted to reach.

Tips For You

If time is against you, and you think that you won’t be able to cover the whole syllabus then don’t go for it, rather you should focus more on topics that you think are easy and gettable.

Cut more part of your day to study, because if you don’t then you will regret it later. Giving more time to studies does not mean that you do not relax your mind, you should keep taking the time to time breaks to keep your mind fresh.

Now the most important thing is that you skip those topics or question that you think are unnecessary and unimportant from exam point of view. Be very careful while choosing them, take the help of someone who is more experienced, like your teacher or your senior.

Hope the tips and sample paper given in this article will help you. You can ask anything related to your studies via comment. All the very best for your exams,
